WILLIAM ACIE WARNER

Graveside services for William Acie Warner, 85, will be held 3:00 PM, Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Mannsville Cemetery with Pastor Luke Panter officiating.

William Acie Warner was born on October 4, 1927 in Berwyn, OK to the late William Henry Jeeves and Jewell Ann (Billings) Warner. He went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2013, at the Sulphur Veteran’s Center. His family and friends knew him as Acie. He was a World War II Navy veteran who served as a rigger on the USS Platte in the South Pacific fleet. After VJ Day, he came back home and completed his GED and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1948. On August 21, 1950 he married Minnie Louise Eastman in Watonga, OK. They had six children.
Acie worked as a farmer and rancher, even following the wheat harvest to Canada, before landing a job as a roughneck for SOHIO petroleum in 1952. The company transferred him to Washington, LA where he worked for 19 years in plant operations and mechanical maintenance over their gulf coast division. While residing in Opelousas, LA, Acie was active in the PTA, Band Boosters and served as a little league coach in his spare time.
He transferred back to Elmore City, OK where he continued working as a production operations supervisor until he retired in August of 1985. Acie was a member of the Sohio Petroleum Club, American & National Quarter Horse Associations and the Wolf Boosters. He spent his retirement farming and ranching at his home west of Davis. He enjoyed raising & training horses, calf roping, antique tractors and supporting his children and grandchildren in all their activities. Acie loved the time spent with his family.
Survivors include five children, William F. Warner and wife Shirley of Ardmore, James R. Warner and wife Sylvia of Springer, Saminthia Warner of Davis, Hershell A. Warner and wife, Connie of Dale, TX and Edwin L. Warner and wife Jamie of Davis; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Hershell Houston Warner of Dale, TX & Billy Jim Warner of Red Bluff, CA and a sister, Angie Lorene Petty of Wynnewood.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie, in January 1998 and an infant son, Acie Joe.
Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 – 8 PM at the home of his daughter, Saminthia, located at 33369 NCR 3240, west of Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice, 207 C St. NW, Ardmore, OK 73401
