Thomas “Wesley” Williamson was born September 21, 1957 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late James and Donie Williamson. He passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 in Pensacola, Florida.
Wesley was a 1974 graduate of Davis High School. Following high school, he joined the United States Navy, receieving an honorable discharge in 1977. After the Navy he worked along side his brothers, Dee and Ben, in the oil field until finally settling into a career with Schwan’s Ice Cream. He was planning on enjoying his well earned retirement in September of this year.
Wesley was married to his soulmate, or as he called her, “his bride”, Sherry Haynes and resided in Pensacola.
Wesley was a gentle giant, and for those that knew him, they would say that his love for his family and Oklahoma, were without question. The kids always knew Uncle Wesley would always be bringing them boat loads of ice cream and he was always there when any of us needed him. Last year he witnessed, along side his family, his Oklahoma Sooners beat Ohio State and the famous flag planting in Buckeye nation; a moment that he was still talking about.
Wesley was preceded in death by the matriarch of our family Sallie “Grandmommy” Williamson; his parents; three brothers Jimmy, Dee and Ben; his wife Sherry; mother in law, Dagmar Haynes; and his granddaughter, Alexandria.
Wesley is survived by his two sisters; his “barely older sister” as they have always teased each other, Margaret Berry of Springboro, OH and Martha “Shorty” Thornton of Davis, OK; three children Sherry Smith, Ernest Gayle and Angela Irving; grandchildren, Amanda Tims, Taylor Whitehouse, Darren Irving and Aaliyah Saavedre; great-grandchildren, Avery Tims and Alexandria Whitehead; as well as his nieces and nephews Timberly Harvey Teel, Jamie Williamson, Tommie Ann Garrison, Erin Crawford, Jennifer Williamson Swisher, Jessica Williamson, John David Williamson, Matt Berry and BJ Pence.
A graveside service celebrating the life of Wesley will be 9:00AM, Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, OK.
