Services for Terrel Lyndle Billings will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur with Pastors Fred Bailey and Dick Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
Terrel was born April 11, 1934 in the Oak Grove community, north of Sulphur, to the late Ossie W. & Jewell (Roberson) Billings. He died Monday, August 12, 2019 in Sulphur, at the age of 85 year, 4 months & 1 day. Terrel and the former Ms. Lenola Oneta Thomas were married on June 9, 1956 in Sulphur. From this union were born two sons, Keith and Randy Billings.
Terrel grew up in the Oak Grove area. As a young teen, he developed a strong work ethic that led him to spend several years working in the oil field. Later he worked for Dolese Brothers and prior to his retirement, he worked for Murray County Commissioner, District 2. Terrel was involved in farming his entire life. Although farming/ranching is hard work, Terrel enjoyed it greatly. Spending time out on his farm, raising cattle and horses, brought him much peace and happiness.
Terrel loved his family dearly. He had a tendency to spoil his grandchildren. He always carried plenty of one dollar bills to hand out, not only to his own grandchildren, but to other kids he met throughout his day.
Survivors include his loving wife, Oneta; two sons, Keith Billings & wife Beverly of Sulphur and Randy Billings & wife Lana of Ardmore; six gradchildren, Terry Billings & wife Shay, Josh Billings & wife Suzy, Randal Billings & wife Kaylea, Cali Lewis & husband Buddy, Jessi Pierce & husband Shawn and Judd Bean & wife Beverly; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as four siblings, Larry Billings of Stroud, Donna Stubblefield of Stratford, Cleve Billings of Sulphur and Paula Buchanan of Sulphur.
In addition to his parents, Terrel was preceded in death by three siblings, Dean Billings, Wanda Jean Grissom and Donald Billings.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Billings, Josh Billings, Randal Billings, Buddy Lewis, Darrell Cooper and Chris Dilbeck..
