Tamara Dawn "Tammy" McClellan
Tamara Dawn "Tammy" McClellan was born March 10, 1965, in Ponca City, OK, to the late Bill James & Kathryn Ann (Cassady) Sprueill. She died on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in Davis, at the age of 59 years, 5 months and 18 days.
Tammy grew up in Braman, OK. After graduating from Braman High School, Class of 1983, she moved to Davis. While working as a waitress at the Jollyville Café, she met James McClellan, and later married on July 2, 1985, in Gainesville, TX. It was often said she loved him with all her heart, but she just married him because she adored his four children.
Tammy was the epitome of a devoted mother and Nana. Her world truly revolved around her children and grandchildren. She would square off with the devil himself to protect her family. She loved to travel with her family as often as possible. Those travels ranged from trips within Oklahoma, to visiting London three times, and various places between. No matter the distance, if she was with her family, she enjoyed every second of it.
Tammy was never one to shy away from a hard day's work. Throughout her years in Davis, she held numerous jobs, often several at one time, with local business including Pizza Hut, Sonic, Betty's Café, Burford Manor Nursing Home, driving a school bus for Davis Public Schools, and substitute teaching at Sulphur Public Schools. One of her most cherished jobs was working at Burgerland with Shane, whom she thought of as a son.
If you knew Tammy, you knew her!!! She was straight on, right to the point, said what she thought and did what she said, whether you liked it or not. She never tiptoed around anyone or anything. If she was your friend, she loved you wholeheartedly. If you were a foe, it was best to avoid her. Tammy was all heart. She was always willing to volunteer with area fundraisers for the school, civic organizations, or help a family in need. She would literally give her last dime to help a friend in need. She was very active with the Murray County Antique Tractor Club, as well as the American Alzheimer's Organization for many years.
Tammy will be remembered for being loud, having no filter, telling it like it is, but most importantly, as a devoted wife, mother, Nana and friend, who loved unconditionally and was there when you needed her. Rest easy my dear friend, rest easy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, James; seven children, J.D McClellan & wife Chellie of Davis, April Williams & husband Jordan of Byng, Mike McClellan & wife Addie of Sulphur, William McClellan of Davis, Jamie Rankin & husband Michael of Davis, Beth White & boyfriend Kyle Moseley of Davis, and Dani McClellan & boyfriend Stephen Boulden of Davis; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rick, Billy and Tim Sprueill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Tammy was preceded in death by one sister, Anita Lunn and son-in-law, Joe White.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Central Church Fellowship of Believers, east of Davis, with Brother Thomas J. Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery, in Davis.
