Funeral services for Steve Allen Deen will be held 10:00AM, Friday, September 4, 2020 at the Midway Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Due to the current Covid pandemic, the family suggests those choosing to attend the service wear face masks. Steve was born June 17, 1950 in Altus, OK to Tommy and Janette (Carder) Deen. He died Friday, August 28, 2020 in Sulphur, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 11 days. Steve and the former Ms. Pamela Ruth “Pam” West were united in marriage on July 31, 1971 in Davis. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2014; as well as his father, Tommy Deen in October, 2002.
Steve grew up in Altus, graduating from Altus High School, Class of 1968. Following high school, he attended the University of Oklahoma and later, East Central University. In 1971, Steve began a career with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring as an Outside Plant Engineer in 2003. Upon his retirement, Steve, along with his two brothers, Mark and Terry, joined forces and started Pan America Electric, Inc of Davis.
Steve was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He spent countless hours attending sporting events and other school activities to support his sons and grandchildren. Steve spent 41 years refereeing high school football games with the OSSAA. He was an avid fan of OU Football, being a season ticket holder since 1974. In earlier years, he and Pam spent a large amount time in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was simply “their place.” Steve enjoyed gardening and maintaining the appearance of his lake home and property; as well as playing golf with family and friends. He was very much a sociable man. He enjoyed conversing with his friends and family every opportunity he had.
Survivors include his mother, Janette “Jan” Deen; three sons, Beau Allen Deen & wife Angela of Norman, Blake Thomas Deen & wife Briana of Oklahoma City and Barry Carder Deen of Sulphur; six grandchildren, Jaylea Deen, whom he was proudly raising, Jace Deen, Olivia Deen, Luc Deen, Rhett Deen and Mila Deen; two brothers, Mark Deen & wife Janie and Terry Deen & wife Peggy, both of Davis; as well several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Thursday evening, September 3rd at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorials be made a college fund that will be established for the granddaughter, Jaylea Deen.
