Shirley was born December 7, 1942 in Ponca City, OK to Walter William & Effie Leona (King) Clinton. She died Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 74.
Shirley grew up in the Ponca City/Ripley areas, graduating from Ripley High School in 1960. Following high school she married and started her family. In the late 1960’s she and her family moved to Sulphur. She spent 20+ years working as a home health aide, retiring in 2009. Some of her hobbies included cooking, going camping, fishing and gardening. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Dale Saunders of Sulphur and William Peckenpaugh of Lexington; two daughters, Effie McElfresh and husband Derk of Shawnee and Sue Ann Yancey and husband Pete of Sulphur; mother, Effie Clinton of Ponca City; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as one brother, Jesse Clinton of Ponca City.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Orval “Boog” Saunders in June 2015; son, Floyd McArthur Peckenpaugh; father, Walter Clinton; brother, Raymond Clinton and his wife Diane.
Serving as Pallbearers were Clint Gibbs, Gary Parker, Alex Ross, Larry Boyd, Doug Payne and Kevin Holden.
