Shirley Ann (Williams) DeWees
Shirley was born Mar 6, 1938 in Sulphur to the late John & Lessie (Foster) Williams. She died Tuesday, Mar 11, 2014 in Sulphur, at the age of 76 years and 5 days. Shirley and Truman DeWees were married on Feb 15, 1996 in Decatur, TX. He preceded her in death on Sept 6, 2012.
Shirley grew up in the Sulphur area and graduated from the Cameron High School in 1956. She and Raymond Lee married and raised four children, Terry, Sherry, Tony and Mark. After her children were grown, Shirley worked as a Nurse’s Aide for Dr. Pinaroc and at the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital from 1977 until her retirement in the early 1980’s. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, going to flea markets and having coffee with her friends at Snak Shak. Shirley was very fond of her dog, Squeaky.
Survivors include her son Tony Lee & wife Karen of Coleman; two daughters, Sherry Brown & husband Terry and Terry Heskett, both of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Michael Brown, Charity Trussell, Candie Cochran and Kenyan Lee; five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Chloe, Caleb, Chelsea and Paxton; as well as one sister, Peggy White of Davis.
Others preceding Shirley in death include one son, Mark Lee on July 1, 1998 and two brothers, Jerry and Junior Williams.
Serving as pallbearers were Dan Elkins, Randall Kirby, Terry Brown, Michael Brown, Michael Smith and Don Bob Clark. Honorary bearers were Charles Cochran and Tony Lee.
