Sandra Ann “Sandy” Bolling was born November 1, 1941, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late James & Regina M. (Dagenais) Lapish. She died on Monday, January 22, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 82.
Sandy grew up in Michigan and later Kansas, prior to moving back to Lansing, MI. After high school, she pursued a career in nursing, which led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Michigan University. The earlier part of her 50+ year nursing career was spent working with special needs patients in Michigan, prior moving to Oklahoma in 1984, working at the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley. After that facility closed, Sandy spent the remainder of her time working for Sooner Home Health in Sulphur.
Sandy, known by her family as the world’s best procrastinator, enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching television and spending time on Facebook. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her beloved family. Sandy cherished spending time with her family, especially following her grandchildren as they played sports. She was their biggest cheerleader.
Survivors include her daughter Sarah Ashford & husband Gary of Sulphur; two sons, Steven Lawrence and Tim Lawrence & wife Teresa; six grandchildren, Savannah Ashford, Jacob Ashford, Jessica Gilbert & husband Heath, Marissa Mitchell & husband Michael, Taylor Lawrence & wife Ayanna, and Todd Silken & wife Carmella; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Rance, Trentlee, Rhett, Lucas, Lydia, Lynon and Axton.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Bolling; the father of her children, Jerry Lawrence; her beloved companion, Elbert Sills; as well as three half siblings.
Memorial services will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Crossway First Baptist Church Chapel, in Sulphur, with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating.
