Ruth “Janice” Rogers was born on October 18, 1941 to the late Roy and Myrtle Jolly. She received an offer from her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 22, 2020, that she couldn’t refuse, as she was invited to rejoin family and friends she had not seen in a long, long time.
Janice married her high school sweetheart, Hoot Rogers on May17, 1961 in Marietta. They began their family with twin girls, Sherri and Terri, who preceded them both in death. Janice is survived by three sons. Mark Rogers and wife Shelly; their daughter, Haley McAdoo, her husband Drew and son Kyler; and one son, Haydn Rogers. Mike Rogers and wife Carolyn; their three children, Austin Rogers and wife Shelby, and daughter Rowyn; son, Jerico Rogers; and daughter, Kendal Rogers, Ethan Mize and their daughter, Indy. Jeff Rogers and wife Julie; their two sons, Lane Boven & wife Hannah and Shane Boven & wife Selest.
Janice was proceeded in death by her brothers Glen, Carlos, Larry and Ray Jolly as well as one sister, Nina. She knew the sorrow of loss, but found great joy in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and her daily Dr. Pepper that lasted all day. God gifted “Granny J” with the ability to bake the world’s best breakfast, spaghetti, chili and chocolate cake. She could have written a book about 1000 ways to cook delicious meals with bacon grease.
We will forever recapture in our minds the hours spent on the porch counting hummingbirds, surrounded by endless flowers, the made to order birthday dinners and countless holiday feasts. Those precious moments and memories will bring you back as clearly as if you were here and remind us of all the wonderful years we had together. You will be remembered for all the tears you dried, the wounds you kissed and the tummies you filled.
Now we cry because you are gone, but smile because God chose us for you. Granny J, we know you are here, wishing you could dry a few more tears, and heal a few more broken hearts, but we are happy knowing God has wiped away your tears and healed your broken heart, just like you did for us. Love you now and always.
