Funeral services for Royce Gene Blevins will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Davis with Brother Billy Staggs officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Royce was born August 22, 1964 in Cleveland, OH to Jackson Roy “Cub” and Harriette (Gay) Blevins. He died Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in Sulphur, at the age of 54 years, 9 months and 20 days. Royce and the former Ms. Detra R. Green were married on August 24, 1990 in Sulphur.

Royce grew up in Davis, moving from Mill Creek in 1970. He attended Davis High School, graduating DHS Class of 1983. While in school, Royce worked for Sooner Foods. Later he worked for Walmart in Sulphur and MPI Rock Crusher, west of Davis. Prior to failing health, Royce worked at the Walmart Distribution Center in Pauls Valley. In addition to working at Walmart, he, along with his sister-in-law, whom he referred to as “mowing partner”, Melanie Alexander, mowed lawns for the elders of the Chickasaw Nations.

Royce was an avid outdoors man. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and driving the area backroads observing nature at its best, always keeping an eye out for mushrooms. He was known to be a great cook, often sharing his ability to cook with family and friends. Royce was very devoted to his family and friends. He cherished spending time with each and every one of them. He was an avid fan of the Davis Wolves and the OU Sooners.

Survivors include his loving wife Detra; daughter, Kelsey Jeane Blevins & wife Cassandra of Davis; son, Cejae Royce Blevins of Davis; three grandchildren, Dakota Royce Blevins, Carlee Sue Blevins and Elizabeth Aonna; foster grandchild, “Baby G”; mother, Harriette Cottrell & husband Floyd of Davis; siblings, Terry Jon Blevins of Hennepin, Dale Fondren of Davis, Casey Blevins of Missouri; Callie Jo Blevins of Missouri; Liz McClure of Sulphur, Doug Branch of Colorado Pam Craig of Texas and David Cottrell of Davis; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Branch; step-mother, Judy Blevins; mother-in-law, Sue Green of Wynnewood; very special “adopted” family members, Madysen Walck of Sulphur, Nick Luckinbill & wife Jaimie and their two children, Kynlee & Adalynne and Anthony Larson; numerous aunts and uncles including, Bob-O Blevins, Geary Blevins, Debbie Hook, Teresa Bolin, Bob & Dena Slaughter and Buck & Sue Gay; as well as a very large extended family of cousins and very dear friends.

Royce was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Eva Sue Blevins; fathers, Cub Blevins and Ed Branch; and maternal grandparents, Edith & Orvan Hubbard and Royce & Mildred Gay.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Ensley, Terry Busby, Mike Carroll, Billy Branch, Hank Edmunds, Lee Digby, Chad Coble and Perch Sager.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, June 17, 2019 from 6-7PM.
