Rocky Lynn “Hardrock” Bumgarner

Funeral Services for Rocky Lynn Bumgarner were held 10:00 AM, Friday, Jun 14, 2013 at Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Green Hill Cemetery.

Rocky was born on Oct 15, 1950 in Salinas, CA to Stanley M. & Dorothy J. (Johnson) Bumgarner, Jr. He died Tuesday, Jun 11, 2013 in Davis at the age of 62 years 7 months and 26 days. Rocky & Debra Jean Greenroyd were married on Feb 12, 2007 in Gainesville, TX. She preceded him in death on Aug 24, 2011. Also preceding him in death were his parents, “Junior” and Dorothy Bumgarner.

Rocky grew up in Davis where he attended High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged on April 25, 1972. Rocky spent the past 20 years as a heavy equipment operator for the Martin Marietta Rock Crusher west of Davis. In his earlier days, he enjoyed riding bulls. One of his most favorite hobbies was fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Tisha Varela & husband Robert of Coppell, TX and April Pineda & husband Erick of Davis; one son, Robbie Bumgarner & wife Shauna of Sulphur; 11 grandchildren, Dakato & Ashley Wallace, Hailie & Bradley Phillips, Macy Pineda, Dylan Carter and Ashlynn, Bailynn, Tyler, Jacob and Kiley Bumgarner; three siblings, Susie Smith, Jimmy and Danny Bumgarner, all of Davis; as well as one niece, Kim Smith and six nephews, Jeremy, Michael, Colby, Shane, D.J. and Toby Bumgarner.
