Robert Calvin “Bob” Barnes was born May 8, 1934, in Mannsville, OK, to the late Alonzo Franklin and Pauline (Carrell) Barnes. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in Sulphur, OK, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 3 days. Bob and the former Ms. Joyce Ann Hillis were united in marriage on May 12, 1956, in Fox, OK.
Bob grew up in Mannsville, graduating from Mannsville High School, Class of 1954. He spent his working career in sales. If it could be sold, Bob would and could sell it. He worked several years for the Maintenance Engineering Company, selling light bulbs. He later sold sewing machines for the Singer Corporation. From sewing machine sales, he began working for the Morton Potato Chip Company and later ended his career with Spindle Wholesale of Sulphur. Shortly into his retirement, Bob decided being retired was not for him, so he began dispatching for the Davis Police and Fire Department. After several years of dispatching, Bob was forced back into retirement, due to health issues.
Bob was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and cherished spending time with them. His most cherished love was that of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Bob was a very devoted member of the Midway Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. In his spare time, he devoted his time to woodworking and building model airplanes.
