Randy was born Dec 14, 1953 in Sulphur to the late Troy B. “Sam” and Dorothy Jo (Thomas) Roady. He died Thursday, Mar 13, 2014 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 60 years 2 months and 28 days. Randy and Cynthy L. Bartlett were married on Oct 10, 1980 at Turner Falls Park in Davis.
Some people come into our lives with such an impact, that even the most majestic words on a page cannot begin to describe them. Randy Roady had this kind of impact on all our lives. Randy was a giver, a fighter, a miracle in the truest sense of the word, servant and in a comical sense, “a mess”. He grew up in Davis and graduated from Davis High School in 1973. During his life he worked as a Police Officer for the City of Davis, an Assistant Funeral Director for Fox Funeral Home of Davis, bus driver for the Davis School and most recently as Assistant Manager for Sooner Foods Grocery of Davis. He served 20 years as a volunteer for the Davis Fire Department. In the midst of life he was basically handed a death sentence due to complications of a diseased liver. As time was quickly passing, death was becoming more eminent each day. In October 1992, by the grace of God, Randy received the phone call that would change his life forever. Randy underwent a liver transplant that added 21+ years to his life. Throughout his illness, he never lost his sense of humor, his quick wit or his desire to live; even though he had been forced to retire from work, resign from the Fire Department and stay homebound.
After his transplant, Randy fought hard and regained his life. Most people would have taken advantage of the situation and remained disabled, not Randy Roady. He returned to the fire department and finished his 20 years of service, he went to work driving a bus for the Davis School and then took a full time job at Sooner Foods. Randy will forever be remembered for his quick wit, his sense of humor and his unwavering positive attitude.
Survivors include his wife Cynthy; son Heath Roady; two daughters, Heather Hays and Hollie Alexander & husband Bobby; four grandchildren, Lexi, Blayne, Maverick & Shaylie; two brothers, Ricky Roady & wife Anita and Rodney Roady; two sisters, Sandra Elliot & husband Jerry and Toy Eldred, all of Davis; as well as, father & mother-in-law, Bill & Judy Bartlett and sisters-in-law, Debbie Mondor and Angie Alexander, all of Spring, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Ozbirn, Donald Risner, Ronald Risner, Ricky Warren, Mike Lee and Gerald Roady. Honorary bearers will be members of the Davis Fire Department, active and retired.
