Penny Lea (Thomas) Ensley was born November 11, 1964 in Pauls Valley, OK to the late John David & Sandra (Gray) “Sandy” Thomas. She died Monday, January 4, 2021 in Ardmore, at the age of 56 years 1 month and 23 days. Penny and Robert E. Ensley were united in marriage on June 4, 1983 in Davis. From this marriage was born two children, Kandee and Dallas.
Penny grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1983. For many years, she was a stay-at-home mother, enjoying the “mom life.” Once the kids were older, Penny began working in the medical field as a home health aide for the Davis Health Care, owned by David Pittman. From home health, she began working in dialysis health care, working 16 years with Fresenius Dialysis in Ardmore. At the time of her death, Penny was employed with DaVita, Inc.
As it is often said, “there’s one in every crowd.” That was truly Penny. She loved life and made those around her love it too. She was very free-spirited and was always ready to have a good time. Her whole goal was to make others laugh, and she did quite often. Penny was a known prankster and tried hard to never miss an opportunity to pull a joke on friends and family.
In her spare time, she enjoyed being with her family and friends, making area garage sales, shopping and couponing. Penny had a heart of gold and loved giving gifts to others. She was a self-proclaimed wedding planner, although she didn’t charge for her assistance or suggestions.
Penny will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh and her giving heart.
Survivors include her husband Rob; daughter, Kandee Ensley; son, Dallas Ensley; grandson, Kutter Gillihan, all of Davis; sister, Chris Etheredge Quigley & husband Dale; niece, Brittani Etheredge; several aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as a host of dearly beloved friends.
In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by two grandbabies; and one nephew, Matthew Etheredge.
Private graveside services will be held at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, with Brother Billy Staggs officiating.
