Funeral services for Paul “Brownie” Wimberly will be held 2:00PM, Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Wynnewood View Cemetery.

Paul was born March 5, 1931 in Wynnewood to the late General Gaines and Nora Lee (Blackburn) Wimberly. He died Wednesday, October 19, 2016, in Ardmore, at the age of 85. Paul and Betty Jean Bumgarner were married on August 5, 1948 in Lawton. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2012.

Paul grew up in the Wynnewood View area where he attended school. He moved to California where he worked in canneries for a short while, only to return home to marry the love of his life in 1948. Together, he and Betty moved back to California for work. Throughout his life, Paul worked at various jobs including, General Motors in Oklahoma City, West Plumbing of Oklahoma City, Falls Creek Baptist Assembly, the State of Oklahoma Maintenance Dept, truck driving and as a self-employed carpenter and plumber.

Survivors include his daughter, Paula Kubiak of Davis; three sons, Steven Wimberly of Wynnewood, Johnny Wimberly of Joy and Michael Wimberly of Wynnewood; as well as, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Wimberly and six brothers, Willie, Troy, Floyd, Clyde, Bruce and Herman Wimberly.

Serving as pallbearers will be David White, Clay Digby, Stan Gilbert, Chris Wimberly, Tim Wimberly and Walter Wimberly.
