Paul Edward Dilbeck

Paul Edward Dilbeck was born on February 12, 1931 to Earl and Ruby (Corbin) Dilbeck in Oak Grove, Oklahoma. He passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the Sulphur Veterans Center at the age 81 years.

Paul and Virginia Whiten were married in July 3, 1958 and from this marriage were born two sons, Randy and Todd. On March 15, 1980, Paul and Betty (Nelson) Mitchell were married in Sulphur. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2010. Others preceding him in death include his parents and brother, James “Jim” Dilbeck.

Paul served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and retired as Staff Sargent with ten years of service to our country. After his military career, he began a career as a heavy equipment operator for many construction companies in Oklahoma. The jobs Paul worked on changed many Oklahomans’ lives for the better. The Arbuckle Lake, McGee Creek Reservoir, and the I-35 road project in the Arbuckle Mountains, just to name a few. Paul later began working with Murray County District Two as an equipment operator for road maintenance, which was his final retirement.

There wasn’t a bigger Sulphur Bulldog fan. He loved to watch all Sulphur sporting events from football to girls’ basketball whether he had a grandchild playing or not. Paul was a devoted Christian and a member of the Oak Grove Pentecostal Church. He supported many churches and causes in the Sulphur area.

Survivors include sons: Randy Dilbeck and wife, Synthia, of Shawnee, Todd Dilbeck and wife, Bobbie, of Alma, Arkansas, David Mitchell of Florissant, Colorado, Gary Mitchell of Oklahoma City, Randy Mitchell and wife, Cindy, of Sulphur; daughter, Sandra Harmon of Bethany; brother, Glen Dilbeck and wife, Jerri, of Joshua, Texas; 14 grandchildren: Kristin Borromeo, Houston, Meagan, Kolby and Chelsea Dilbeck, Rachel and Josh Henry, Jack, Kyle, Lindsey, and Shane Mitchell, Tamara Lee, Krystal Brinson and Timothy Burch; eleven great grandchildren; and many cousins across the United States.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sulphur Schools Athletic Department.
