Paul Alvis Lewis, Jr.

Paul Alvis Lewis, Jr., better known by many as “Tall Paul,” was born June 22, 1954, in Snyder, TX. He died Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Pauls Valley Care Center, in Pauls Valley, OK. He was 68 years, 9 months and 13 days old.

Paul, a longtime resident of Davis and Sulphur, grew up in west Texas. After graduating from Loraine High School, he joined the United States Air Force. Following an honorable discharge, Paul rejoined his family, who had moved to Davis while he was serving in the Air Force. He spent much of his adult life working as a roofer in the building construction industry. Paul was a gun enthusiast and was known for his sharp shooting skills. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards and dominos with his family and friends.

Survivors include five siblings, Jerry Morris & wife Cynthia of Davis, Cleve Courtney of Sulphur, Cecilia Kling & husband Johnny of Athens, TX, Janice Sterndale & husband Alan of Duncan, and Paula Navar of Tonopah, NV; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as extended family member G.W. Kitchens and LaJuana Lewis.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Joyce (Martin) Courtney; his father, Paul Alvis Lewis, Sr; and one sister, Carolyn Cravens.
