Norma Jean Digby

July 17, 1936 — December 7, 2018

Graveside services for Norma Jean Digby will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Rev. Dennis Long and Heath Foster officiating.

Norma Jean was born July 17, 1936 in Dougherty to the late Earl & Loless (Fisher) Tomlinson. She died Friday, December 7, 2018 in Madill, at the age of 82. She and Richard A. Digby were married on February 27, 1954 in Gainesville, TX. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2015.

Norma Jean grew up in Davis. She attended Davis Public Schools through the 11th grade. Due to her father’s employment, the family moved from Davis to Velma, where she graduated with the Class of 1954. Although her high school diploma may read Velma, in Norma Jean’s heart she was a Davis Wolf. The words “avid fan” does not begin to describe the love and loyalty she had for the Davis Wolves. She and Richard traveled countless miles across the state cheering on the Wolves, and those that ever sat near her in the stands know, she cheered very loudly. Norma Jean was an excellent cook. She was also a very talented seamstress, sewing and quilting every spare moment she found. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Norma Jean was known to bring laughter to a room. She always stood ready to pull a well rehearsed prank on someone, which prompted others to pull a prank on her to even the score. She was truly a sweet lady, yet totally full of orneriness. That orneriness however, created many wonderful memories for her family and friends to cherish.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen (Digby) Lynch & husband Blane of Dickson; one son, Larry Digby of Davis; granddaughter, Katelyn (Digby) Jackson & husband Jethro of Troup, TX; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
