November 22, 1927 — November 7, 2019

Funeral services for Myrl Smith Crossley will be held 1:00PM, Friday, November 15, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Davis, with the Reverend Claude Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Milo Cemetery.

Myrl was born November 22, 1927 in Seneca, MO to the late Roy and Leata (Smith) Crossley. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 15 days. Myrl and the former Ms. Bonnie Vee Stillwell were married on November 8, 1975 in Tulsa.

Myrl, born the fourth of nine children, grew up in Seneca. He ended his education at Huber School, following his 8th grade year, because he was needed to work on the family farm. At the age of 15, he and his family moved from Seneca to Tulsa, where he began working at a sheet-metal shop. During his 26 years at the shop, Myrl took a leave of absence to serve his country in the United States Army. His final years of working was spent for a sign company in Tulsa.

Although Myrl officially retired from a paying job, he never stopped working. Because of his strong belief and devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus, Christ and the teachings of the Holy Bible, Myrl continued working for Christ and others that needed help. He was always doing something to serve and help others. In 2000, he and Bonnie joined the Texas Baptist Men’s Volunteer Group. His association with this group led he and Bonnie to many states, where they assisted with remodel of Baptist Children’s Homes and the construction and remodels of numerous churches. Myrl had a God given talent when it came to carpentry. It was his passion and he used that passion to serve the Lord.

Upon moving and settling in Davis in the late 1980’s, he and Bonnie joined the Chickasaw Trail Baptist Church in January of 1990. Later their membership moved to Immanuel Baptist of Davis and then to the First Baptist Church of Davis. Myrl was always very active at each of the churches. He believed in helping others as the Bible instructs us to, especially widows and neighbors. In his spare time, Myrl always planted a large garden, for the purpose of giving his yielded crops to neighbors, friends and fellow church members.

Myrl was a truly devoted man of God. He loved being able to serve his Lord and help others. His love for the Lord and mankind was unwavering, right up to his last earthly breath.

Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie; one son, David Crossley & wife Marion of Tulsa; one daughter, Cathy Brimer & husband Bruce Duncan of Tulsa; one step-son, Tim Pogue & fiancé Sabine of Springtown, TX; one step-daughter, Donna Hicks & husband Alvin of Tahlequah; two grandchildren, Shane Hathhorn & wife Shelby of Broken Arrow and Laci Harris & husband C.W. of Coweta; four great-grandchildren, Riley Hathhorn, Kailey Hathhorn, Shooter Harris and Country Harris; three step-grandchildren, Kenadie DiFruscio & husband Michael, Sarah Hicks and Charles Hicks; one step-great-granddaughter Eden Hicks; three siblings, Bruce Crossley of Fountain, CO, Dale Crossley & wife Betty of Checotah and Phyllis West of Sapulpa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.
