Monta Laverne Pullen

Graveside services for Monta LaVerne (Nowlin) Pullen will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, with Pastor Lance Whaley officiating.

LaVerne was born February 18, 1930 at Roady, OK to the late Mont and Eva Loreen (Clark) Nowlin. She went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 1, 2020 in Ardmore, at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 13 days.

LaVerne lived in the surrounding area all her life. She started school in Hennepin and moved to Wynnewood in Junior High. She graduated in 1947 from Wynnewood High School. LaVerne married Gordon B. Pullen on October 22, 1947 and moved to Davis where she lived until her death. They had two children, Robert Lynn and Jana Sue.

LaVerne was a member of First Baptist Church of Davis since 1948. She was faithful to her church and served in many capacities. She taught Sunday School for many years, teaching in the beginner and adult departments, worked in the nursery, and was the Superintendent of Adult II Department. LaVerne was also active in the Oklahoma Rural Carrier Association and for many years was a district officer. She also served on the State Board and was a delegate to the National Convention.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; son, Robert; and brother, Zane Nowlin.

She is survived by her daughter, Jana Hickman and husband Carl of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Aaron Pullen of Indianapolis, IN, Bryan Pullen and wife Jami of Davis, Carrie Ransom and husband Jonathan of Sulphur and Kelly Hickman and wife Sydney of California; one step-granddaughter, Joetta Carr of Grand Junction, CO; seven great-grandchildren, Nick, Nolan, Aidan and Keira Pullen and Cambree, Camryn and Jase Ransom; two step-great grandchildren, Rachel Norton and Clay Walker; one sister, Dixie Digby of Davis; one brother, Rex Nowlin of Norman; and dearly loved Children in Christ, Gary & Sharon Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Davis, “Vision Fund”, 208 South 3rd St, Davis, OK 73030.

Due to the current COVID pandemic, the family respectfully asks those attending the service to please practice social distancing and follow CDC guidelines.
