Graveside services for Mildred Jeanette Akers will be held 2:00PM, Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Dougherty Cemetery, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating.

Mildred was born November 4, 1933 in Addington, OK to the late Vince Bennie & Mary Emeline Salmon. She died Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Sulphur, at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 15 days. Mildred and Arlin Dee Akers were married on September 21, 1951 in Gainesville, TX.

Mildred grew up in the Comanche area, prior to moving to Dickson, OK her junior year of high school. She was a 1951 graduate of Dickson High School. Mildred was a very kind, gentle loving lady. She spent her life devoted to her husband and family. Mildred was an excellent seamstress. She spent countless hours crocheting and doing needle point. Her work was always very detailed and beautiful. She also enjoyed other types of arts and crafts. Mildred was loved by her entire family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Arlin Dee; two sons, Richard A. Akers & wife Terri of Jones and Randy D. Akers & wife Susan of Harrah; four grandchildren, Erick Akers and Nikki Ferlaino of Oklahoma City, Cheyenne Akers & Quintel Winslett of Oklahoma City, Riley Akers & wife Elizabeth of McLoud and Lacey Barrett & husband Micah of Norman; five great-grandchildren, Lennon Baker, Isabelle Akers, Izzy Winslett, Hudson Akers and Hazel Akers; several nieces & nephews, including niece Bobbie McGinness & husband Thalbert of Conroe, TX; two great-nieces Kellie Kubena & husband Lance of Arlington, VA and Bettie McGinness of Houston; one great-great nephew, Charlie Kubena; sister-in-law, Armenta McWethey of Dougherty; three brothers-in-law, Darrell Akers & wife Virginia of Sulphur, Harrel Akers & wife Hilda of Dougherty and Doug Akers and wife Margaret of Dougherty; as well as a host of nieces and nephews on the Akers side of her family.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by two sisters, Bettie Carter and Mary Lou McLendon.
