Michael Charles “Mike” Stanford was born November 20, 1956 in Glendale, CA to the late Lovis Charles & Dorothy Sue (Dodson) Stanford. He died on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 18 days. Mike and the former Ms. Dawn Ray Eastman were married on June 27, 1981 in Sulphur.
As a kid, Mike and his family resided in several Oklahoma towns along I-35, traveling with his father as he worked on the construction of the interstate. Although he lived in those various towns, Sulphur was always home to him. In 1974, Mike joined the United States Navy, serving until he received an honorable discharge in 1976. Following his time in the Navy, he began a career as a heavy equipment operator, working at several area rock quarries. At the time of his death, Mike was employed as a loader operator with Martin-Marietta.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing, but most of all just being outdoors. Mike was a huge OU Sooners fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Dawn; one daughter, Toni Baker & husband Michael; two sons, Tolon Vineyard & wife Shanda and Michael Stanford & companion Tiffany Flournoy, all of Sulphur; 12 grandchildren, Saraya Wilson, Tiara Norton, Rylan Baker, Savanna Baker, Kali Vineyard, Bradley Vineyard, Brandon Vineyard, Malachi Bell, Colton Stanford, Jaxson Hendley, Cayden Hendley and Bryson Hendley; two great-grandchildren, Roman Carter and Ava Vineyard; as well as four sisters, Shana Kinslow, Gena Farmer, Donna Denise Stanford and Patricia Stanford; and six brothers, Jackie Don Stanford, Jerry Dean Stanford, Tommy Joe Stanford, Victor Lucas, Bobby Jones and Buddy Stanford.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Hale’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
