Mary was born March 30, 1934 in the Oak Grove Community to the late Eanes & Jewell (Castleberry) Britt. She died Thursday, February 1, 2018 in Roff, at the age 83 years, 10 months and 1 day.
Mary grew up in the Oak Grove area and attended school at Oak Grove and Hickory. Throughout her life, farming was her main career. She, along with her family raised cattle, pigs and goats. In the 1980, they owned and operated a dairy farm for several years. Mary’s main job was keeping the books; however, she never backed up from working with the men around the farm. For a few years, Mary worked as a nurse’s aide at the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing gospel hymns and reading her bible. It was also said, that Mary enjoyed watching a good family argument. She was also known for being a pretty good shot with a rifle.
Survivors include her husband Bobby Ray Amos; one son, Fred Lamb & wife Denise of Roff; daughter-in-law, Elaine Lamb of Roff; nine grandchildren, Bobby Singleton & wife Vandi, Mary Elaine Lamb, Jesse Leonard, Joey Worley, Justin Poole, Audra Scott & husband James, Marty Lamb & wife Melody, Penny Lee Lamb and Aaron Lamb; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Britt; as well as, four step children, Michael Amos & wife Mary, Charlie Amos, Pete Amos, John Amos & wife Anna and Tina Amos.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Lamb; two sons, Billy Ray Lamb and Ralph Martin Lamb, Sr; one grandson, Todd Lamb; two brothers, Buddy Britt and James Britt; and one sister, Effie Rene Newell.
