Mary Kathleen Bachus

Mary Kathleen Bachus was born November 5, 1948, in Del City, OK, to Frank & Mary (Edmonds) Walker. She died on Sunday, March 19, 2023, in Sulphur, at the age of 74 years, 4 months & 14 days. Mary and James Donald “Jim” Bachus were married on July 16, 1983, in Norman.

Mary grew up in the Oklahoma City area. After graduating from Del City High School, she spent seven years working for the University of Oklahoma, as an assistant director in the engineering school. She then attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. After receiving her degree, Mary spent many years teaching social studies for the Norman Public School System. During her time with Norman Schools, Mary returned to college, earning her master’s degree in education.

In 2012, Mary and Jim retired and moved to the Arbuckle Lake area, where she enjoyed crappie fishing, and being outdoors in nature. In younger years, she and Jim enjoyed camping, hiking, and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; two sons, Chris St. Amand of Ireland, and Billy J. Bachus of Pennsylvania; her mother, Mary Westermeyer; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Bobby and Billy Walker.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Frank.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur, with the Reverend Randy Martin officiating.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
