Services for Mary Ellen McDonald will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Sulphur with Brother Darryl Patrick officiating. Burial will be at the Shoot Cemetery, near St. Charles, Arkansas.
Mary was born September 23, 1939 in DeWitt, Arkansas to the late George W. and Ethel (Poston) Jenkins. She died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in Sulphur, at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Mary grew up in DeWitt. At the age of 17, she moved from Arkansas to California. In 1969, she and her family moved to Mill Creek, where she was a stay at home mother for several years. Later she began working at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, as a Youth Guidance Specialist, retiring in 2002, after 25+ years of service. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Sulphur. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her chickens and watching “Young and the Restless”. She was known for her homemade blackberry jelly, which she shared with her friends and neighbors.
Survivors include one daughter, Gail Hudson; three granddaughters, Crystal Muncrief, Morgana McDonald and Rickie Hudson, all of Sulphur; seven great-grandchildren; as well as two siblings, Helen Lindell of Sulphur and George Harold Jenkins of California.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ester Lee Jenkins.
