Marvin Earl Woods, Jr was born July 30, 1956, in Houston, TX, to the late Marvin and Jessie (Ansley) Woods, Sr. He died Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Sulphur, at the age of 66 years.
Marvin, better known as “Son” by family and friends, grew up in Davis. After graduating from Davis High School, he joined the Oklahoma National Guards, devoting 22 years of loyal service to our country. Early in his working career, Son worked for Haliburton Services as a welder. Later, he spent 20+ years working as a cross country truck driver, retiring in 2018, due to health issues.
Son was an avid sports fan. He faithfully watched any all sports he could find on television. No matter what sport, Son knew each team’s stats and kept friends and family constantly updated. He also enjoyed trying his luck at local casinos. Family was always very important to Son and he loved family get togethers.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Woods & partner Clayton Bahr of Oklahoma City, and Megan Woods of Paoli; three grandchildren, Ansley Staats, Chloe Rhea Pierri, and Adam Johnathan Birdshead; one brother, David Woods & wife Mary of Sulphur; two sisters, Ilene Hobbs & husband Steve of Davis, and Betty Woods of Maysville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Son was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Woods.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, 3:00 PM at the Iona Cemetery.
