Funeral services for Mabel Naoma Leming will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
Mabel was born September 3, 1921 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to the late Noah & Jeanetta (Singleton) Awbrey. She died Monday, August 10, 2020 in Sulphur, at the age of 98 years, 11 months and 7 days.
Mabel grew up in the Sulphur area. She spent her life caring for others, both physically and spiritually. For many years, her time was spent caring for children; prior to becoming an adult care-giver for the Department of Human Services. After leaving Sulphur, Mabel lived a short time in Stratford, before settling in Oklahoma City for many years. In 2012, Mabel returned to Sulphur where she became a faithful member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. In younger years, she enjoyed sewing, interior decorating and painting. Mabel was a devoted follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and spent countless hours reading the Bible and studying God’s Holy word.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Leming) Grissom of Sulphur, Judith (Leming) Barrett of Tulsa and Teresa Ann Leming of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; as well as one sister, Jean (Awbrey) Over of Oklahoma City; and one brother, Marian Thomas Awbrey of Yukon.
In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Wayne Leming; three grandchildren, Andy Hail, Benny Gastineau and Elizabeth Gastineau; as well as seven siblings.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Gastineau, Greg Nance, Joey Gastineau, Jordan Parnacher, David Mabry and David Mabry, Jr.
