Lowetta Fern Bolding was born December 14, 1934 in the Hickory Community to the late Harvey and Dovie (Stevens) Baker. She died Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 86 years and 23 days. Lowetta and Kenneth Arlen Bolding were married on January 2, 1954 in Ada. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1995.
Lowetta grew up on several area ranches, including the Horseshoe Ranch and WinRock Farms, due to her father being a ranch hand. Following their marriage in 1954, she and Kenneth made their home in Boston, while he was serving in the military. Following his honorable discharge, Lowetta and Kenneth moved to Wichita Falls, TX, briefly, before settling in Davis in 1959, where they raised their five children, Michael, Linda, Nancy, LaVerne and Marie.
Lowetta, better known as “MeMaw” by everyone, was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She cherished spending quality time with her grandchildren, which often included playing with Barbie dolls, sharing stories and hosting slumber parties where she and the grandkids enjoyed ice-cream at midnight and Dr Peppers for breakfast.
Lowetta moved from Davis to Woodward in 2007, to be closer to family. While living there, she became very active with the First Baptist Church where she participated in several church groups including the quilting group and the clothing store. Lowetta enjoyed cooking and traveling with her family.
Survivors include her son, Michael Bolding & wife Teresa of Davis; four daughters, Linda Townsend & husband Kevin of Sharon, OK, Nancy Terry & husband Randy of Woodward, LaVerne McKee of Okmulgee and Marie Blakley of Woodward; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; as well as one brother, Barney Baker of Sulphur; and two sisters, Nita Ross of Wright City, OK and Ann Ross of Ada, OK.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lowetta was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Gary McKee; grandson, Jarrell Dean; and three brothers, H.B., Bill and James Baker.
