Lowell Edmond Oliver
Lowell Edmond Oliver was born on April 10, 1923 in Augusta, KS to the Myrtic & Hazel (Thornton) Oliver. He died Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Sulphur at the age of 88 years 11 months and 14 days.
Lowell owned and operated the Sundown Motel of Davis from 1975 until he retired and sold it in 2005. He had a great love for music. He played guitar with a band at Turner Falls for many years. In 2001, Lowell suffered a stroke that prevented him from playing; however, it did not affect his love for music. He continued listening to good country music until his death. Lowell’s philosophy for life, according to his son, could be summed up in three short instructions; “do right, work hard & take no bull.” Lowell was a member of First Baptist Church of Davis.
Survivors include his son Lowell E. “Ed” Oliver, Jr. of South America; two grandchildren, Lowell E. “Trey” Oliver, III and Kimberly Ann Odem; as well as one great grandchild, Karis Ann Odem.
Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene and one son Steve Oliver.
