Loretta Maxine (Jenkins) Mattingly
Funeral services for Loretta Maxine (Jenkins) Mattingly will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Dougherty Baptist Church with Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Dougherty Cemetery.
Maxine was born Oct 28, 1943 in Sulphur, to Ira and Myrtle (Pinkston) Jenkins. She died Sunday, Jun 9, 2013 in Ardmore, at the age of 69 years 7 months and 11 days. Maxine and Edward Neil “Ed” Mattingly were married on Sept 22, 1978 in Enid, OK. He preceded her in death on Mar 13, 2002. Others preceding her in death include her parents; one daughter, Sheila Vineyard; granddaughter, Coywetta Blankenship; sister, Christine Koch; two brothers, Burl and Everett Jenkins; as well as her lifelong friend, Creed Saunders.
Maxine grew up in Dougherty where she attended school. In the mid 1960’s, she moved to California where she worked in the nursing industry for a few years before returning to Oklahoma and making her home in Enid. She and Ed later moved to Cushing where she worked as a Beautician for 15 years. In the early 1990’s, Maxine returned to the “Mountain” in Dougherty, where she was raised. She worked as a Nurse at the Callaway Nursing Home in Sulphur until her health forced her to retire.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Duncan & husband Mike of Stillwater and Sabrina Taylor of Dougherty; two sons, Bob Burris & wife Leslie of Mustang and Dan Branscum of Asheville, NC; 13 grandchildren, Brian McDonald, Deidra Wilson, Chad and Lissie Duncan, Trista Spurgeon, Christopher Blankenship, Steven Taylor, Jr., Katlin Watson, Ryan Taylor, Danielle Taylor and Tristan, Justin and Chelsea Vineyard; as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
