Loretta Maxine Hobbs was born on April 19, 1938, in Colony, OK, to the late Virgil Redis and Bertha Lee (Hudgins) Calhoun. She passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Muskogee, OK, at the age of 84. Loretta and H.M. Hobbs were united in marriage on April 13, 1953, in Gainesville, TX. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2008.
Loretta moved to Davis in 1951. She spent a brief time working as an LPN at hospitals in Ardmore, Sulphur, and Oklahoma City. She then spent many years managing several area restaurants, including Ballard’s Drive Inn, Kent’s Truck Stop, Big Country Truck Stop and Biscuit Hill Truck Stop. After leaving the restaurant business, Loretta worked several years in housekeeping at the Falls Creek Baptist Assembly.
Loretta was a faithful member of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. She enjoyed spending countless hours reading her Bible and studying the word of God. In her spare time, she also enjoyed crocheting, doing word search, and painting by numbers.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherrie Lathum of Davis, and Carolyn Plumbtree & husband Craig of Muskogee; one son, Steve Hobbs & wife Ilene of Davis; eleven grandchildren, Jason Gaile, Traci Lathum, Rebekah Veach, Matthew Hobbs, Brittany Osuna, Judy Capps, Elizabeth Kaler, and Sarah Sebring; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Gene Calhoun of Surprise, AZ.
In addition to her parents and husband, Loretta was preceded in death by one son, Clay Hobbs, and one brother, Leon Calhoun.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Katie Cemetery.
