Linda Kay Yates
Funeral services for Linda Kay Yates will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, Sept 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Davis with Pastor Luke Panter officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Linda was born on Sept 4, 1946 in Hollis, OK to the late Delbert Eugene and Corene (Ward) Watson. She died Tuesday, Sept 17, 2013 in Ardmore, at the age of 67 years and 13 days. Linda and Jody F. “Joe” Yates were married on Aug 5, 1965 in Childress, TX.
Linda worked her way through college working daily as a janitor for Davis Public Schools and attending Murray State College at night, where she majored in Nursing. After completing her associates at Murray State, Linda continued her studies at East Central University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1986. After graduating, she worked at the Ardmore Memorial Hospital in Rehab Services. She later worked as an RN for the Murray County Health Dept. Prior to retirement, Linda worked three years as the school nurse for the Sulphur Public School Systems. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, quilting and sewing. Linda was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Davis, joining in 1978.
Survivors include her husband Joe; three sons, Paul Yates of Davis, John Yates of Henderson, NV and Rowdy Yates of the home; one daughter, Becky Yates of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren and one brother, Gene Watson, of Davis.
Along with her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Cletha Lee Stanley.
Serving as pallbearers will be fellow members of the Southern Oklahoma SAMS RV Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial be made to the American Cancer Society.
