Leroy Fennell, better known as “Fuz”, was born January 20, 1938 in Rufe, OK to the late J.T. and Ida (Choate) Fennell. He died Thursday, January 28, 2021 in Ardmore, at the age of 83 years and 8 days. Fuz and Sharon Van Hook were married on July 17, 1974 in Ardmore.
Fuz grew up in Roff, graduating from Roff High School, Class of 1956. He was pretty much a jack of all trades when it came to working; however, most of his working career was spent in carpentry. Prior to his death, he was employed with Shepherd Home Construction in Ada. Fuz was very devoted to his family. He cherished spending time with each of them, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and bird hunting. He was an avid fan of the OU Sooners and OKC Thunder.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon; two daughters, Angie Ivey and Tammy Grinstead, both of Sulphur; one son, Robby Fennell of Norman; four grandchildren, Amber Fennell, Tosha Fennell, Beau Fennell and Megan Grinstead; several great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Bob Fennell & wife Bobbie of Ada and John Fennell of Clifton Park, NY.
In addition to his parents, Fuz was preceded in death by one son, Jack Ivey, Jr.; one grandson, Logan Grinstead; three sisters, Lottie Mae Fennell, Faye Fritts and Margie Antonopolis; and three brothers, Bill Fennell, Marshall Fennell and Monroe Fennell.
Private graveside services were held Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Elmore City Cemetery in Elmore City, OK.
