Services for Lee Daniel “Dan” Horton will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating.
Dan was born September 24, 1940 in Sulphur to the late Henry and Nattlie (Miller) Horton. He died Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in Davis, at the age of 78 yeas 6 months and 9 days.
Dan grew up in Sulphur. Following high school, he began a career as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He also spent several years as a cross country truck driver, a machinist at Haliburton Services in Davis, as well as worked as an ambulance driver and police officer. Prior to failing health, Dan operated heavy equipment and ran the sand pit for CD Brown Construction of Sulphur. In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting with friends at the local coffee shops, training horses with Charles Birch and fishing. Dan was a very generous individual. He would give his last penny to a friend in need.
Survivors include his daughter, Nattlie Monjay of Longview, TX; son, Jimmy Horton of Seminole; four grandchildren, Oceana Monjay, Miranda Cotton, Cody Horton and Cory Vaughn; eight great-grandchildren; as well as three nephews, Greg Horton, Gary Horton and Charlie Horton.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Don Brown and Charles Birch and their families for their continued care and devoted friendship to Dan. The loyalty given to our dad by Don and Charles was that of a brother.
