Funeral services for LaWanna Sue McKinney will be held 2:00PM, Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur with Bill Green officiating.

LaWanna, better known as Sue, was born July 28, 1934, in Thackerville, OK, to the late Cliff and Luetta (Overstreet) Harris. She passed on Thursday, June 3, 2021, in Duncan, OK at the age of 86 years 10 months and 5 days. She and Merrill V. “Mac” McKinney were married on July 20, 1953, in Laredo, TX. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2004.

Sue grew up in the Thackerville/Marietta/Gainesville areas. Following her high school graduation from Gainesville, she spent a brief time working for the Bell Telephone Company in Dallas. After she and Mac married, she became a stay-at-home mom, providing for her children. Due to his career in the military, they made their homes in various places prior to settling in the Mill Creek area. Sue was a very accomplished seamstress, sewing for not only her family, but area friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, watching the hummingbirds and doing arts and crafts.

Survivors include her daughters, Kaye Price of Sulphur, Michelle Fenske & husband Rusty of Meade, OK, Jamie Estrada & husband David of Duncan and Kyla Green & husband Bill of Little Elm, TX; as well as her 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bill Simms; two sisters, Louise Webb and Vonquitta Taylor; and one brother, Leon Harris.

Services were entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
