Johnnie Duwaine Norman was born December 7, 1945, in Wynnewood, OK, to the late Edgar Lewis and Nova Evolene (Rogers) Norman. He died Friday, January 7, 2022, in Sulphur, at the age of 76 years and 1 month. Johnnie and the former Ms. Francine Lumbert were united in marriage on March 31, 1964, in Davis. From this union were born three children, Levi, Sonya, and James.
Johnnie grew up in the Hennepin/Woodland area. Throughout his working career, in addition to driving a truck, he also operated heavy equipment. Johnnie, better known by his CB handle as “Comanche,” spent 43 years driving for various companies, including Safeway, Hanson Aggregates, and prior to his retirement in 2011, he drove for Chris Foster Trucking of Davis.
Johnnie was always known to be a loyal and hardworking employee. He was always willing to work long hours to ensure that each load was completed in a timely manner. In addition to his truck driving, Johnnie enjoyed fishing and raising cattle and goats.
Survivors include his loving wife Francine; son, Levi Eddie Duwaine Norman and wife Lisa of Elmore City; daughter, Sonya Renee Wilbourn & husband George of Davis; son, James Douglas Norman & wife Darlene of Sulphur; eight grandchildren, Sierra Woodruff & husband Bradley of Davis, Destiny Sumrall & husband Justin of Pernell, Darren Sheets of Davis, Ashleah Nikkole Ake of Hobart, J.J. Norman of Elmore City, and Ariah Skye, Evolene Paige and Caden James Norman, all of Sulphur; six great-grandchildren Braden, Justin, Kaylie, Gunner, Kendra and Jonah; one sister, Virginia Glasgow of Grand Prairie, TX; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Warren and one brother, Lewis Edgar.
Funeral services will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Davis, with his nephew, Patrick Norton officiating. Interment will follow at the Hennepin Cemetery.
