JOHN FRANKLIN LAWRENCE
Johnny was born July 22, 1926 in Washington, OK to the late Varney Thomas & Mary Ann (Lucas) Lawrence. He died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Sulphur, at the age of 91. Johnny and the former Mary Ruth Eddy were married on June 14, 1947 in Sulphur.
Johnny grew up in Dougherty, OK. In 1944 he enlisted in the United State Army, serving during WWII in the 66th Tank Battalion. He spent 35+ years working as a loader operator for Makin Sand Plant in Dougherty and later for Sooner Rock & Sand, west of Davis. Throughout his life, Johnny farmed and raised horses. Being such a hard- working man, even in his spare time, he found enjoyment working, playing cards and most of all talking.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; two daughters, Kathy Page & husband Jim of Stratford and Angela Morris & husband Johnny of Sulphur; two sons, Mike Lawrence & wife Ethel and Scott Lawrence, both of Sulphur; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild one brother, Carlin Lawrence and four sisters, Ruth Farrelly Lawton, OK, Doris Butler, Mt. View, OK, Alice Mills, Tuttle, OK and Brenda Thomas, Carnegie, OK.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Wayne Lawrence; five sisters, Ruby, Willie, Alene, Edna, Agnes and six brothers, Bill, Claude, Alan, James, Dale and Ray.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Paul Lawrence, Michael Wayne Lawrence, Scott Lawrence, Asher Lawrence, Benny McGill, Adrian Corwin. Honorary bearers will be Bill Knight, Don Brown, Joe Ramer, Jim McGill, Johnny Pettitt and William Gordon.
