John Elva Orsborn

Graveside services for John E. Orsborn will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur with Buddy Runyan officiating.

John was born September 7, 1925 in Love County, Oklahoma to the late F.E. “Curley” Orsborn and Lula (Wilson) Orsborn-Landreth. He died Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 28 days. John and the former Ms. Helen Louise Shorter were married on April 29, 1946 in Ardmore, OK. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2003.

John grew up in Edgewood, TX. He spent much of his life in the auto sales industry. From 1957 until his retirement in 1992, John owned and operated Orsborn-Stagner Buick Pontiac in Hereford, TX. Following his retirement, he and Helen moved to Quitman, TX. In 2016, he moved to Oklahoma, to be near his daughter and grandsons. In younger years, John enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very devoted father and grandfather, spending every opportunity he could find, being with them.

Survivors include his daughter, Judy Orsborn and companion Jim Peters of Stratford; three grandsons, Scott Meyers, Brad Meyers & wife Neda and Gabe Meyers; four great-grandchildren, Kody, Katon, Skylor and Lani; as well as one sister, Ruth Conti of Flower Mound, TX.

In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Modell Baker and Lydia Burns.
