Jimmy Monroe “Hawkeye” Jeter
Jimmy Monroe “Hawkeye” Jeter was born Jan 24, 1935 in Davis to Roy & Evolene (Burkheart) Jeter. He died Sunday, Jun 30, 2013 in Davis, at the age of 78 years 3 months and 2 days.
Hawkeye grew up in the Davis/Woodland area. Early in life, he worked for Tom Jack Knapp as a driller in the Oil Field and later as a ranch hand for Drake Farms of Davis. Hawkeye was an avid fisherman. He spent every spare moment he had fishing the Washita River, as well as Wild Horse Creek.
Survivors include two brothers, Leroy Jeter and Kenneth Jeter, both of Davis; Ricky Ellett, JR, whom he raised; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Hawkeye was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Joe Jeter.
