Jerry Lawrence Woods

Funeral services for Jerry Lawrence Woods will be held 2:00PM, Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Central Church, with Brother Thomas J. Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Jerry was born August 17, 1935, in Davis, to the late Alfred Lawrence and Vera (Montgomery) Woods. He died on Monday, January 31, 2022, in Sulphur, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 14 days. Jerry and the former Ms. Patricia Ann “Pat” Engle were married on May 4, 1957, in Pauls Valley.

Jerry grew up in Davis, moving to Pauls Valley his junior year of high school. After graduating from Pauls Valley High School in 1954, he continued his education at Oklahoma State University. Following college, Jerry joined the United States Airforce, devoting 20 years of his life to our country. After retiring from the Airforce, he worked as an electrician for Uniroyal, prior to his final retirement.

Jerry was a very crafty individual. He enjoyed making knives and arrowheads. In earlier years, while he and Pat lived in Arkansas, Jerry raised chinchillas, which he greatly enjoyed. He was known to be the family “Fix-It” man. If something needed repaired, he patiently figured out a way to fix it. Jerry also devoted time volunteering and helping Pat with various tribal functions and activities for the Chickasaw Nation.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; daughter, Amy Russell & husband Nathan of Davis; two sons, Shan Woods & wife Carla, and Steve Woods & wife Paula, both of Sulphur; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Tammy Woods; brother-in-law, Charles Garner; as well as two dear family friends, Arlene Mink of Sulphur, and Karla Windyboy of Stonewall.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Will Woods; one sister, Patsy D. Garner; and one brother, Eugene Woods.
