Funeral services for Jerry Don Mann will be held 2:00PM, Monday, April 29, 2019 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur with Pastor Dick Terry officiating.
Jerry was born February 14, 1947 in Sulphur to the late Haldene “Sonny” and Mildred (Jordan) Mann. He died Thursday, April 25, 2019 at his home in Sulphur, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 11 days. Jerry and the former Ms. Jolene Sumpter were married on January 5, 1969 in Oklahoma City.
Jerry grew up in Sulphur. Following high school he joined the US Navy and served during the Vietnam Conflict. Jerry spent his entire career working in the trucking industry. Throughout his time in the industry, he worked as a driver, mechanic, safety officer and logistics manager; as well as owned and operated J&J Truck Service. Jerry was an avid fan of Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was also very active in sprint car racing. He built numerous sprint cars for his sons and served as their crew chief. The racing was a family sport that they all greatly enjoyed together. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with his family; as well as visiting with his friends at the local coffee shops.
Survivors include his wife Jolene; one daughter, Barbara Gayle Hatton & husband Brian of Wagoner; one son, Lee “Brother” Mann of Durant; six grandchildren, Preston Mann, Zakkary Mann, Dustin Blevins, Tyler Blevins, Reigan Sullivan and Paige Marie Mann; three great-grandsons, Casey, James and Rodey; one sister, Barbara Digby of Davis; one brother, Joel Mann & wife Nona of Dougherty; as well as four nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Don “Opie” Mann on April 9, 2018; and one brother-in-law, Dean Digby.
