Jerry Covon Rankin

Graveside services for Jerry Covon Rankin will be held 10:00AM, Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Hennepin Cemetery with Pastor Willard McCartney, JR officiating.

Jerry was born December 25, 1937 in Hennepin to the late William Ray “Bill” and Elsie Odell (Yancy) Rankin. He died Friday, June 21, 2019 at his home west of Davis. He was 81 years, 5 months & 26 days old. Jerry and the former Ms. Louise Gregg were married on February 8, 1958 in Gainesville, TX.

Jerry grew up in the Hennepin area. Following high school, Jerry did what he knew best and that was hard work. He spent several years working as a carpenter, dairy farming and working in the oil field. Later, Jerry began driving a truck for Western Rock, now known as Hanson Aggregates, retiring in 2004. In earlier years, Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, coon hunting every spare minute he could find. During his retirement years, he found great enjoyment raising and tending to his herd of goats. Jerry was of a quiet and patient nature; however, he always firm. He was very much old school when it came to dealing with others. His word was his bond and a handshake sealed the deal. He was very devoted to his family, always working hard to provide a good life for them. Being with his family always made him happy.

Survivors include his loving wife Louise; two daughters, Sherry Miller & husband Claude, Jr of Ada and Stacy Roberts of Springer; four sons, Wayne Rankin of Pauls Valley, Terry Rankin & wife Shelli of Waurika, Jason Rankin & wife Jennifer of Lawton and Michael Rankin & wife Jamie of Davis; daughter-in-law, Carol Rankin of Davis; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Dan Rankin & wife Dian, Dessa McNeil & husband Bill and Rick Rankin & wife Cindy, all of Davis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Bill Rankin; daughter-in-law, Kay Rankin; and one brother, John Rankin.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Miller, A.J. Hamill, Tim Parker, Luke Rankin, Andrew Roberts, Seth Bittle, Ryan Rankin, Johnny Warren, Santford Webber, and Jim Hoffman.
