Jc Grantham

J C Grantham was born March 4, 1935 in Roff, OK to the late Henry and Myrtle (Glasgow) Grantham. He died Friday, October 16, 2020 in Sulphur, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 12 days. J. C. and the former Ms. Mary Pauline Frost were united in marriage on August 3, 1957 in Pauls Valley. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2018.

J C grew up in the Prairie View community, graduating of Stratford High School in 1954. Following high school, J C spent time working for Kraft Foods in Sulphur, prior to working for the Fairmont Milk Company of Ardmore. In 1966, J C began working for Sooner Foods Grocery in Sulphur. His employment with Sooners continued some 52 years, retiring in 2018.

J C was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and bass fish with his good friends, Larry Palmer, Homer Ratchford and Carl Ratchford. He was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Sulphur, where he served on the board of directors.

Survivors include his daughter, Diann McIntosh & husband Lonnie of Sulphur; granddaughter, Stephanie Beaty & boyfriend Matthew Cooper and his sons, Kade and Jace, of Bokoshe, OK; adopted daughter, also known as a “Niece”, Terra Frost & wife Haley and son Cooper of Carrollton, TX; five siblings, Hazel Risner of Davis, George Grantham & wife Sue Dean of Stratford, Preston Grantham & wife Norma of Springfield, MO, Bill Grantham & wife Barbara of Brooklyn Station, MO and Wanda Jean Wynn of Dale, Alabama; brother-in-law, Gary Frost & wife Margie of Sulphur; sister-in-law, Ethel Rackley of Sulphur; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as extended family members Robert Tucker of Sulphur, Dr. Antonio Lee & wife Hai Chi and their girls of McKinney, TX, Jack Beaty and the entire Sooner Foods Family.

In addition to his parents and wife, J C was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Grantham, Lorene Williams and Margie Shults.

Per J C’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his memory to The Sulphur Fishing Club’s “J C Grantham Scholarship Fund”, c/o Sulphur Public Schools, 1021 W 9th, Sulphur, Ok 73086, Attn: Clete Cole.
