James Nelvin Singleterry

Funeral services for James Nelvin (Cub) Singleterry were held Friday, Nov 7, 2014 at Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis with Rev. Susan Marks officiating. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

James was born on June 26, 1935 in Homer, OK to the late James William and Augusta (Digby) Singleterry. He died Sunday, Nov 2, 2014 in Healdton, at the age of 79 years 4 months and 6 days.

James went to work for the Joe Brown Trucking Company when he was 17 years old. He continued to work for Joe Brown for the next 44 years until retirement.

In December 1969, James married Nancy Blackburn Jones and gratefully raised her children, Vickie Carol and Ricky Ray Jones and his own. He found time to go fishing at least twice a month. The stories Rick could tell you about the yearly Pheasant hunting trips with James and Pete Blackburn (Granddad) continued to make everyone laugh when they were no longer able to make the journey.

James was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Grace Singleterry and Linda Gail Singleterry and one son, James Anthony Singleterry, from a previous marriage.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; children, Vickie Jones and Rick Jones, both of Parks, AZ; grandchildren Kelsie Jones Araujo of Mammoth Lakes, CA and Cameron Jones of Bakersfield, CA; two great-grandchildren, Nixin Araujo and Kaydence Jones of CA; and a host of relatives and friends that will miss him greatly.
