James, known by many as “Jimmy,” blessed everyone with his warmth and easy-going manner. He modeled strength, service and faithfulness throughout his journey. Jimmy especially excelled at making both ordinary and difficult moments brighter with his perpetual gift of humor.
Jimmy served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, followed by more than 30 years of civil service with the U.S. Air Force. Further, and more satisfying, service followed with several years of camp-hosting across Oklahoma, Texas, North Carolina, and Colorado, as well as other volunteer assignments in Austria, Costa Rica and China. His favorite, however, was serving with his wife, Mary, in Israel for two years.
In the middle of all these years are the countless memories with family and friends of campfire coffee, swimming in the creek, church softball games, countless buckets of homemade ice cream, building the ‘dome home,’ and simply quietly enjoying the presence of those around him.
His extraordinary strength, faithfulness and good nature continued to bless so many even when his words were absent these last few years. A smile and a salute from “Mr. Jim” honored and encouraged many.
Every day, Jimmy longed for ‘home.’ Finally, and on the exact date Mary went home four years earlier, they were reunited with each other and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
