James Kenneth Malloy, better known as “Kenny”, was born November 30, 1941, in Pontotoc County, OK, to the late Charley Vernon “Bud” and Claudia (Ayres) Malloy. He died December 26, 2021, in Sulphur, at the age of 80.
Kenny grew up in the Sulphur area. He attended elementary school at Prairie View and later Sulphur. Following high school, he joined the United States Army. After being honorable discharged on November 27, 1963, Kenny made his home in Woodward, where he married and later became the father of his only child, Debra Ann “Debbie” Malloy. Later, Kenny and his family moved to Sulphur, where he owned and operated the Malloy Pawn Shop for several years.
Kenny was a very nostalgic individual. He enjoyed touring museums and admiring history. In his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. Kenny was an avid OU fan.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Nicki Retherford & husband Robert of Roff; two great-grandsons, Conner and Cadon Retherford; two sisters, Judy Thomas & husband Bob of Vian, and Dorothy (Malloy) Runyan of Ada; and one brother, Larry Malloy & wife Ellen of El Reno.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Malloy on February 2, 2007; one brother, Charles “Sonny” Malloy; one sister, Brenda Joyce Malloy; and two nephews, Ronald and Darrell Runyan.
Graveside services, with military honors, were held 10:00AM Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Lewis Family Cemetery, east of Pauls Valley, with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating.
Services were entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
