OBITUARY
James Henry “Worry” Runyan
Worry was born May 5, 1933 at Buckhorn to the late Leonard L. & Jimmie E. (Corbin) Runyan. He died Wednesday, Feb 13, 2013 in Oklahoma City at the age of 79 years 9 months and 8 days. Worry and Betty Lee were married on Feb 11, 1984 in Sulphur.
Worry grew up in the Sulphur area and attended school at Buckhorn and Sulphur. In 1950 he joined the US Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. After he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1952, Worry spent a brief time working for Dolese Bros at the Big Canyon Crusher, prior to moving to California where he worked in an ammunition plant. In 1971, he returned to Sulphur, where he worked in road construction and operated a dairy. After he and Betty married they moved to Kingston where he worked as a rural mail carrier. In 1997 he retired from his postal job and he and Betty returned to Sulphur.
Worry was a very active member of the Murray County Antique Tractor Club and enjoyed helping with all the club activities. He was also a very loyal supporter of the local FFA chapters and was an Honorary Member of the Kingston FFA Chapter. Worry was a charter member of the local “coffee shop gang.”
Survivors include his wife Betty; daughter, Lora Glover & husband Donnie of Greenville, MS; three sons, Eddie Mazy & wife Kay and James Mazy & wife Tandolyn, both of Blossom, TX and Max Runyan of Madill; Tresa Runyan of Madill; seven grandchildren, Gatlin & Caleb Glover of Greenville, Dillon & Dyson Runyan of Madill, Michael & JP Mazy and Melanie Borders, all of Blossom; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jaden & Lynzie Borders all of Blossom; three brothers, Leonard H. “Pete” Runyan & wife Sylvene of Sulphur, John David Runyan & wife Sandy of Madill and Loren E. “Buddy” Runyan & wife Ruth of Brighton, CO; one sister Jo Thomison of Sulphur; his three “special” girls, DeeDee, Brynlee and Emilee Handy of Sulphur, as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
Worry was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Orsborn, Sue Telford and Lou Ellen Smith; and three brothers, Kenneth, Bob and Charles Runyan.
Serving as pallbearers were Bennie McGill, Terrell Billings, Cooter Pender, Michael Campbell, Steve McAdoo and Bobby Lee. Honorary bearers were Clifford Parsons, Don McCracken, Donnie Glover, John Handy, Jim Dyer, Ed Warner, Shawn Lee, Rick Pender, Jimmy McGill, Phillip Muller, Ronald Runyan, Jody Young and his fellow members of the Murray County Antique Tractor & Implement Club.
