James C Chadwick

April 22, 1922 — June 3, 2015

James C. “J.C.” Chadwick

J.C. was born April 22, 1922 in Davis, to the late N.A. & Cecil (Truitt) Chadwick. He died at his home on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 93 years 1 month and 11 days. J.C. married the love of his life, Louise Higgins on Oct 28, 1942 in Sulphur. She preceded him in death on Oct 23, 2014. Others preceding him in death include three brothers, five sisters and grandson, Justin Dow Chadwick.

J.C. was a lifelong resident of Davis/Sulphur. He joined the United States Army on Nov 21, 1942 and was honorably discharged on Oct 13, 1945. After his service to our country, J.C. returned home and became employed with the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier, retiring after 40+ years of carrying mail. Throughout his life, he farmed and raised cattle, a task considered by most as a second job, but to J.C., it was his passion. Whether it was fishing, hunting or tending to his cattle, J.C. loved being outdoors. He was an avid reader, reading most anything he could get his hands on, but especially westerns and anything concerning history. Of all the reading he did, the most important was his Bible, of which he read completely, three times.

J.C. will forever be remembered as a kindhearted individual who loved his family, was loyal to his friends and was simply satisfied with life.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Pirkle & husband Joe of Davis and Judy Wells & husband Jerold of Sulphur; two sons, Richard Chadwick & wife Jane and Don Chadwick & wife Judy, both of Davis; nine grandchildren, Machele McNeil, Sean McNeil, Chuck Wells, Amy (Wells) Norman, Ashley (Wells) Box, Kelli (Chadwick) Brassfield, Jodi (Chadwick) Coppenbarger, Taylor Chadwick and Jordan (Chadwick) Dutcher; nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler, Audrey, Jag, Jett, Presley, Gage, Paige & Evelyn; one sister, Jo Ann Arms & husband Glenn of Davis; as well as one sister-in-law, Nola Smith of Sulphur.

Serving as pallbearers were Toby Todd, Don Brown, Joe Runyan, Jim Parker, Dewayne Leming & Clyde Runyan.
