Iva Nell Ruggs - Pletcher

Funeral services for Iva Nell (Hefley) Ruggs-Pletcher will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, in Davis, with Pastors Tom Hefley and Brad Pletcher officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery, in Davis.

Iva was born July 23, 1929, in Loco, OK, to the late Jim & Mamie (Howard) Hefley. She died on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in Davis, at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 7 days. Iva and William I. “Bill” Ruggs were married in 1948. To this union were born three sons, Rickey, Randy, and David. Bill preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1989. On Jan. 17, 1992, Iva married the late Everett William “Bollie” Pletcher. He preceded her in death on Feb 21, 2011.

Iva Nell, better known by family and friends as “Ivy”, grew up in Davis, graduating from Woodland High School, Class of 1947. Following graduation, she attended cosmetology school, becoming a licensed beautician. She owned and operated a salon in Davis for 20 years, prior to working for Bill Melton as dental lab technician. After retiring in the mid 1990’s, Ivy spent many years managing the Deer Creek Lodges, near Turner Falls.

Ivy was a rather classy/sassy lady; always maintaining a stylish appearance. She was an avid reader and was known for keeping the road hot between Davis and her home near Turner Falls. Many of her trips to Davis were for the purpose of meeting her dear friend, Fern Primrose, to have coffee and visit. Ivy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis, where she devoted many hours volunteering. She especially enjoyed assisting with church and funeral dinners.

Survivors include her son, David Ruggs & companion Jackie, of Davis; fifteen grandchildren, Frank Ruggs, Clint Ruggs, Wendy Stewart, Kevin Ruggs, Matt Ruggs, Rachel Shippey, Amy Keith, Holly Shippey, Lindsay Ruggs, Mitch Ruggs, Iva Penner, Jody Ruggs, Ricky Ruggs, Sandy Burnside, and Susie Blevins; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; four siblings, Carra Mae Malicoat, James Hefley, Jr, Jerry Don Hefley and Delma Wilson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Ivy was preceded in death by two sons, Randy Ruggs and Rickey Ruggs; granddaughter, Becky Shippey; three sisters, Donna Dimple Buffington, Mary Norwood, and Dorothy Timmons; and four brothers, Howard, Robert, R.L., and Joe Bill Hefley.
