Harvena Louise Maggard

Harvena was born April 29, 1943 in Springer, OK to the late Harvey and Anna Lee (Pettitt) Corcoran. She died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Sulphur, at the age of 73.

Harvena grew up in Cyril, OK, being raised by her maternal grandparents, Maudie & Bud Pettitt who she called Granny-Momma and Daddy Bud. She later made her home in Davis where she attended school. In August of 1960, she and Bill Tallant were married in Davis. From this union was born four children, Kerry, Cindy, Michael & Lisa. Harvena spent much of her working career as a retail sales clerk at several area businesses including Zips, Super C Mart, Wal-Mart, Sooner Foods, and the Chickasaw Travel Center in Davis. She loved her children and grandchildren and cherished spending time with them, especially on the holidays. Prior to failing health, Harvena loved going to the movies and also watching her “old favorite” on television.

Survivors include two daughters, Kerry (Tallant) Koch & husband Melvin of Sulphur and Cindy (Tallant) Rochell & husband Jack of Duncan; son-in-law, Gary Taylor of Davis; four grandchildren, Brandi Witt & husband Curtis of Wilson, Billy Maddox & wife Kristan of Elmore City, Wil Taylor of Duncan and Bethanee Taylor of Davis; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Roberta Motes & husband Bobby of Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, Harvena was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Craig Tallant and one daughter, Lisa Tallant.
